About me

Welcome to my website. A place to keep up to date with me as I try to make it as a published novelist.

Three years ago I decided, ‘I’m going to be a writer.’ Until that point, I’d been pretty miserable hopping from job to job. After the existential crisis that was my twenties, I hit twenty-nine and decided to try everything I was interested in with the hope that I’d discover purpose. There was aerial hoop, theatrical make-up, sewing, violin. Finally, I realised, writing. The one constant. I’d always kept a diary and written terrible poetry. As a child it was what I wanted to be when I grew up. I’d tried everything else. The monied career thing wasn’t for me so, at the point of giving up, I was left with the bones of my passion and thought, ‘I’m gonna do it.’

Since the decision to become a writer, I have completed a Creative Writing MA, finished the second draft of a 90,000 word novel and have, shockingly, just been shortlisted for the Janklow & Nesbit prize which I’m psyched about.

I hope this site will encourage others to chase their love too. As I write this post, I wonder next how to complete the setting up of this bloody website (owning my own domain feels like swinging upside from a trapeze although I had much more control doing that). It’s another language, but I’m going to do it. My website is intended to chronologue my jog towards the finish line of getting a novel published (I have to get published!) while juggling life’s activities and batting its challenges.

Be great to talk to others in similar situations. Feel free to get in touch.
